Since 2002, being based in Hong Kong, we have relied on Obbard to find and manage all our property needs in London.

It has been a hugely rewarding journey, starting with our first investment deal in Kensington (bought, refurbished, sold) through to our ultimate family home in Chelsea (bought in 2023 and currently under refurbishment). In between we bought a number of investments where Obbard applied their ‘value add’ model to extract the optimum returns for us as we chose to either sell or hold.

Having never lived in London, we needed advice. We engaged Obbard to find us a house close to St Johns Wood where friends lived. As we spent time with Charles from Obbard, we came to the understanding it was not an area that suited us. We then focused on Kensington. After a while we realisaed the convenience of a more central location meant sacrifice on space. We expanded our search to areas such as Chiswick, Wimbledon, Wandsworth but ultimately bought our ideal family home in Barnes.

There is no way we could have gone through this exercise and ended up with what we ultimately wanted and needed, if it wasn’t for the insightful guidance, knowledge and experience from Obbard (and Charles’s patience!). To say their engagement provided good value is the biggest of understatements.

My elderly mother needed to move from her home in Maida Vale and wanted to find her dream home to live out her life. What she wanted simply didn’t appear to exist but but by engaging Obbard they could find a property that could be modified to suit her specific needs. The house she now lives in is a dream for her and located in one of london’s unique little village enclaves with a duck pond 3 mins from her front door. She is so happy and the Obbard team did everything. Beyond the principle works to the house they assisted from arranging removals, to hanging pictures and organising all the dreary paperwork.

All this was done from my requests in Singapore and the outcome and execution was just perfection.

I knew exactly what I needed but it didn’t exist. A number of friends recommended Obbard as they could create what I needed.

I already owned a 5 bedroom house over 5 floors in Chelsea but I needed 4 bedrooms on one floor, and a large kitchen. I also did not want the master bedroom and living room close to the children’s bedrooms. The location was very specific. It was a tall ask and I was not prepared to spend more than I had set out to spend.

Obbard found me a 2,500 sq ft apartment in Chelsea where the layout could be reconfigured to create exactly what I needed. Furthermore, thanks to Obespoke their design arm, the style and design is my and my personal taste, not some developer’s idea of a generic look. They handled all the consents required and left me and my partner with the enjoyable bits to be with involved with. A great outcome!

A good friend recommended me to Obbard having recently bought a property for their son and daughter in South Kensington. I live in Singapore, but spend a reasonable amount of time visiting London to see my two daughters, so really wanted a three bedroom property between Gloucester Road and South Kensington. I met with Jonny and Hugh in their office in Chelsea Harbour and they immediately understood my brief and were clearly extremely knowledgeable about the local market. Jonny initially went to see around 30 properties on my behalf, finally narrowing it down to a short list of half a dozen which we viewed on my next trip to London. Unfortunately the one I really liked had sold, but at least that gave Jonny a better brief for my next visit. A few weeks later I received an urgent call from Jonny – he had found out about a flat in Onslow Gardens that was about to go on the market, and thought that it would be perfect. We had an initial video call whilst he took me around the flat, and the next day I was on a plane to London!

Jonny had hit the nail on the head, although it needed more work that I was anticipating, it was perfect, two large bedrooms for my daughters, and a smaller bedroom for me when I visit. After some nail-biting negotiations from Jonny, balancing my offer with trying to keep the flat from going on the open market, we finally agreed the sale. Obespoke carried out all the work that was needed (new kitchen, bathrooms and flooring), and were fantastic at advising what consents were needed (it is a listed building in a conservation area). Three months after we completed the purchase, the end result was amazing, and far better than I could have ever expected.
